TREATMENT
Treatments Available for Knee Pain
Upon receiving a knee pain diagnosis, a wide array of treatments is available to provide relief
and comfort. These can be tailored by your healthcare provider to best suit your conditions.

ASSISTIVE DEVICES
Your doctor may recommend using knee braces or supports to alleviate strain on your knee. They can provide additional support and offer relief during physical activity.

CORTICOSTEROID INJECTIONS
This injection delivers anti-inflammatory medication to the knee joint. While relief is temporary, corticosteroid injections can be valuable in managing acute episodes of knee pain.

HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS
This treatment supplements the knee’s lubricating fluid, potentially reducing friction and improving pain.

ARTHROSCOPY
offers a view into your knee joint, allowing skilled surgeons to address issues directly. It’s a precision-driven approach that aims to mend and restore, offering the prospect of alleviating pain and enhancing joint function.

KNEE OSTEOTOMIES
Reduces pain and improves knee function and quality of life. The principle of osteomy around the knee is to rebalance the pressure force between the inner and outer compartments of the knee.

PARTIAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

FAQS
Questions You might Ask
Check out our list of commonly asked questions to find answers to any general queries you may have.
How can I tell if my knee pain is serious?
Never overlook knee pain, considering the crucial role knees play in daily activities and exercise.
Timely medical attention is imperative for persistent pain or swelling, reduced mobility, instability, difficulty bearing full weight, deformities, or if fever accompanies redness, pain, and swelling.
Is it safe to continue sports activities with ongoing pain?
Listening to our bodies is crucial, as pain signals that something might be wrong. Pushing through the pain barrier can exacerbate injuries. It’s optimal to address injuries at the first sign of discomfort; additional strain may worsen the condition and hinder recovery.
What should I anticipate during my first appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon?
Firstly, the doctor conducts a physical exam to locate pain, assess mobility, and check the strength of the affected area. Medical history is reviewed for underlying conditions. In some cases, X-rays or MRIs may be needed for a clearer understanding of the condition and accurate treatment advice.
When can I safely return to my job or resume playing sports?
The timeline for returning to work or sports after an injury varies based on your age, the treatment received, and your health before the incident. It’s essential not to rush recovery, as it may lead to re-injury or complications.
Your doctor will collaborate with you to develop a thorough recuperation schedule, ensuring a gradual and effective healing process.
Does persistent knee pain necessarily indicate the need for surgery?
First, we would have to assess the cause and severity of knee pain through clinical examination, ultrasound and possibly MRI. A short course of anti-inflammatory medication, a brace, and physiotherapy may suffice for mild cases. Surgery is only necessary for severe cases or conditions unresponsive to the measures above.
